07:24 AM ET 10.18 | Look out, Eastern Conference. Derrick Rose issued the kind of warning after Wednesday night's preseason win against the Detroit Pistons that is sure to make players and coaches around the NBA take notice. "I think I'm way more explosive now," Rose said after scoring 22 points in 22 minutes. "Like getting to the rim. I think I can take contact a little bit better. And as far as jumping-wise, I think I can jump even higher. They tested my vertical -- I increased it by 5 inches. I just didn't show it yet because there's no need to." Rose said after his first preseason game a week and a half ago that his vertical had improved from 37 inches to 42 inches. Now, after playing in just his third game in almost a year and a half, Rose looks and sounds as confident as ever. He says any worrying about his knee is finished.

Rose is sure making his haters look bad. Looks like he made the right choice to sit out the playoffs last year.

And also the fans. I used to defend this guy but all his yapping is turning me against him.

He is quietly turning into my favorite player......remember the debate whether to take him #1 over Beasley......yeah I doubt Beasley does either.........

im all for rose and if he needed to sit out im fine with it but I do absolutely hate this talking and also no one will ever truly KNOW if sitting out last year was his best choice, honestly the more I think of it it probably was a good decision because even if he was healthy I don't think they coulda beat the heat so why not sit it out don't risk further injury and make a run to win won the next year

All his haters will be jumping right back on his bandwagon when the Bulls dethrone the Heat and make it to the finals this year.

As someone who has had a complete knee reconstruction surgery, I know the process of recovering from it. Rehabing as quickly as you can without having setbacks is the key. Also, trusting the repaired knee again is very difficult to get over. I do not blame Rose for sitting out last season to allow strength to return to the knee and get over the mental part of trusting the knee again. Should be a good season for the Bulls and Derrick Rose.

Has it occurred to you that Rose (and others) is merely doing his job in responding to media questions? Or....aren???t you aware that a level of media access to players/coaches is required/mandatory?

I find it interesting how ???people??? will criticize players for not talking to the media....but then....they turn around and criticize players when they do talk to the media. Amazing!

BTW....no way that Rose has any explosiveness right now. It???s not mid-season, yet....and in any case, he???ll NEVER be the player he once was.

Yep; hell have to change his whole gam.....

Did they replace his ACLs with rubber bands?
Good luck Rose. Glad you are back 100%

Apparently.....he has stronger legs due to intensive rehab and weightlifting.

That added power is the key.

All his haters will be jumping back on the bandwagon anyway, once he shows that he's back to where he was 2 years ago.

Rolling pass the Heat (if it happens) will just be an added bonus ;-) .

I agree.

IMO, he would've hurt the Bulls more that he'd have helped them.

If he had come back, he'd have been at matbe 70%. And who would he have taken minutes from? Nate Robinson and Jimmy Butler; both of who were playing some of the best ball of their careers.

And now? Even with the additional time off, he's still dealing with occasional soreness in the knee. That's 'proof-positive' that he wasn't ready back in May.

Yep. And Jerry Reinsdorf would've been ran out of Chicago on a rail....tarred and feathered....if he had passed on Rose!

Especially given Beasley's history of 'unreliability'.

Thank you, everyone got on him for sitting out longer but how many times have these guys got cleared to play and continue to have problems. Rose isn't tall so his quickness and toughness is everything. Sitting out to heal 100% physically and mentally was the right choice.

QUOTE(#17):

That debate is pretty well settled about like the Durant or Oden debate is settled.Funny how Miami has become the landing spot for two of the guys in that debate. B-Easy and Oden will prove all of the doubters wrong this year and win a title before Rose and Durant do! :)

HAHA, that might be true but i am not sure if it proves all the doubters wrong. lol

I often read between the lines. Rose is Chicago's point guard. If he scored 22 points in 22 minutes, he wasn't involving his teammates. Chicago can't win this way.
