07:24 AM ET 10.18 | Consider a 'Melo watch on again. Carmelo Anthony reiterated that he wants it all; he wants to be a Knick for life yet he also wants NBA teams -- the Lakers, really -- to court him when he becomes a free agent on July 1st. The Melo-drama Part II is underway in the wake of Anthony confirming that he plans to opt out of his contract on July 1st and become an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career. And for the first time, Anthony hinted that it is a two-team race between the Knicks and Lakers. When asked about the long-held belief that the Lakers would pursue him, Anthony said: "What other team would they say? I don't think they would say any other team. If you look at situations, that's the only team that they probably would say." The Lakers will have cap space and Anthony is close to Kobe Bryant.

QUOTE(#1):

Bad move opening his mouth now. I'm sure Lebron appreciates it though. Now the media can hound Melo again like they did when he ws leaving Denver.Woodie isn't pleased; -- Knicks coach Mike Woodson wants Carmelo Anthony to focus on the team this season, not on his pending free agency."If he's going to test it, he's got to test it. That's on him," Woodson said Thursday. "But at this point, he's got to worry about this season and this season only, because that's what's staring him in the face." Athony has indicated he will opt out of the final season of his contract with the Knicks and test free agency next summer.

Pretty dumb move! He is w/ NY right now and he should only concentrate w/ the team he is currently in. If anytime he lets down he will hear from the NY media and fans. Lebron got to play really well until the end of the season because he didn't bring up free agency in his last year playing in Cleveland... Except when he quit against the Cs.

Who would you rather see your Lakers get? Who will be available?

Someone younger like Kyrie Irving

..If melo can't get this team past round 2 ....who cares if he stays or goes?

Yeah but in L.A. he'll have Farmar and (possibly) Odom to get him to the GloryLand...

I wonder who's going to take this comment seriously and run with it. I know of at least one person that will...

He won't be available for another 4 years or so.LBJ would be better but he will probably stay in Miami. There just aren't a lot of guys available,

Then its time for Lakers for "rebuilding"

Melo knows this FA season will be all about LBJ......he is firing his shots early while he can still garner some attention....

October 18, 2013  09:18 AM ET

Lakers should sign Deng, it's clear that the bulls don't appreciate him at all.
No contract extension no thing, but they do love Boozer...
Lakers should also sign Spencer Hawes, return Shannon Brown to the fold(Meeks sucks)....

I'd be fine seeing him as a laker but id like to see them get someone better just don't know who will be out there

There are no better guys.
In terms of more realistic free agents that would actually bolt there are only Melo,Granger & Deng (all of whom will be free agents).
I don't see LBJ leaving and Rudy Gay will likely exercise his player option.

LOL!!!! It's only a matter of time. I've been calling his move to the Lakers for some time now. soak it all in Knick fans. It's really a blessing in disguise.

To whatever team 'gets' Carmelo Anthony, good luck...you'll need it. Good morning all.

Legend in his own mind.
