Tuitt NFL Draft comment 'premature'

07:31 AM ET 10.18 | Notre Dame junior defensive end Stephon Tuitt had tried earlier this week to curtail the constant speculation about whether he would declare for the 2014 NFL Draft. Tuitt stated -- prematurely and perhaps incorrectly -- that he would return for his senior season. Simply put, according to those close to Tuitt -- including his mother, Tamara Bartlett, long-time mentor and trainer Clifford "Gator" Browning and Kelly -- the question hasn't even been explored fully, let alone decided. "He probably wished he could have answered a little bit better if he was asked the question again," Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly said Thursday night. ... "No decisions will be made (about NFL Draft status) as long as I'm the head coach here until the end of the season. We won't be making any announcements."

So Kelly says
"As long as I'm coach here till the end of the season"

Sounds like Kelly might have some ideas about moving on, maybe to the NFL?.......LOL

Sounds like Mama is interested in a payday?

It is not Kelly's decision to make. Not sure why he said that. Too much is made of athletes leaving before their senior year. Imagine a biology major having to choose between accepting a guaranteed $10 million job offer or staying one more year to get his degree in four years. What would his family tell him to do? If it is your kid, what do you tell him?

There is always the injury possibility in football. That is why a lot of them take out insurance for such happenings.

Think you nailed it.......he plays his senior yr. gets a major injury and them million's could go straight down the drain......kind of a no-brainer do you take millions in guarenteed money or worry about getting a degree, which after collecting all that cash he could go back and get.

It is easy for people to say " Stay and get that degree, forget about the millions now " because they will never have to make that decision.

Honestly, is there any parent whose son came home for Christmas and told the family that he could make guaranteed millions next fall but he would have to leave school to do it and would tell their son, " No, get that degree now?" Really? No guarantee a year from now the job is there though?

The only reason any kid goes to college is to make himself marketable for good wages down the road. It is not to walk around with it like a tattoo.

It's not the only reason, but is the primary

Dang it, 50! I was all set to make my pitch for education, but then you have to come aboard with your logic and reason, and screw up my little diatribe, lol!

Good thing we have you and Tin to keep us CFB hooligans in line. Great to see you contributing to the CFB boards more lately.

Tuitt should probably stick around another year and try to raise his draft stock by being a productive player. He was great last season but has been easy to miss this year.

But this Notre Dame,, not just any other University. The Lord Jesus will lead this young lad to the righteous path to glory and honor under our holy Mother Mary's care.

You make it sound like playing football in College is nothing more than a business adventure.
You sir clearly do not see the glorious light that surrounds all who attend Notre Dame.
