09:58 AM ET 10.19 | The White Sox officially remained silent Friday about a potential agreement with Cuban slugger Jose Abreu, one day after the news leaked out about the deal reported to be worth $68 million over six years. A source told the Tribune on Thursday night that Abreu, a 26-year-old first baseman, will sign with the Sox pending a physical and barring any last-minute snags. Abreu's imminent signing brought up questions about the future of Sox captain and first baseman/designated hitter Paul Konerko, a soon-to-be free agent who is deciding whether to play one more season. But the Sox maintain they plan to meet with Konerko next month to discuss his future and his fit with the club.

Unless Konerko is just going to be a bench guy, WTF are they going to do with him, Dunn, and Abreu? Paul is pretty much done, anyway.

They will keep Paul to have speed on the bench for late game pinch running situations.
