10:02 AM ET 10.19 | Clippers Coach Doc Rivers had the Lakers' championship banners covered and had his players' banners draped over them instead at Staples Center. Rivers said it will be done whenever it's the Clippers' home game in the arena they share with the Lakers. The Lakers have 12 championship banners -- Minneapolis has its five titles on one banner -- and 10 retired jerseys, including Chick Hearn's microphone retired jersey. "Well, I didn't look at it as the banner thing," Rivers maintained. "I just look at it as putting our guys up." Rivers had the banners of Jamal Crawford, Blake Griffin, J.J. Redick, DeAndre Jordan, Jared Dudley, Chris Paul and Matt Barnes all put up on the wall. The Kings' championship banner was still up on the opposite side of the arena.

The Clippers banners? Going to look weird with how many they have as opposed to all those covered up.

"Rivers had the banners of Jamal Crawford, Blake Griffin, J.J. Redick, DeAndre Jordan, Jared Dudley, Chris Paul and Matt Barnes all put up on the wall"...

Huh? What banners are these?

He should put one up of VDN for owning the only banner in Clippers coaching history...

Gutsy more Doc way to go. Since both teams are leasing the Staple Center it's only fair when the Clippers are playing at home it has a home feel to it for them as well as their fans. I would even put up the banner when they are playing home games right by their pictures. Who cares how many banners the Lakers have on the walls they are sharing the arena with another team. As a matter of fact a better team who appears to be ready to take that next step in establishing themselves as winners. I think it's a great move on Doc's part it should show his and the fans he means business.

R.I.P. Bum Phillips. I really liked that guy...

I'd be very surprise if a Lakers fan would get offended by this. Great move by Doc...

He is basically saying "this is our house" and he wants his players to feel the same way.

Lakers fan here, but I totally agree with this, it isn't disrespectful, they play there too, deserve to have it be there building while it's their home game..

Me too Eli, he was one of a kind, didn't like the Oilers or Saints, but he was a blast to watch coach and talk..one of the good guys. His comments on Earl Campbell were usually spot on.. EC was a joy to watch play

Will the Lakers be hiding the Clippers banner when they play?

I don't think so, as all the Lakers banners will hide that "one" Pacific Division banner!!! :-)

Yes and no!!! It's the Lakers banners and I still don't quite understand why the Clipps think they have to hide them, but "to each his own".
