08:45 AM ET 10.20 | Amar'e Stoudemire finally was cleared for contact, and did some halfcourt work Saturday at practice. And though he had no idea when he will scrimmage for the Knicks, it was an auspicious sign and had both Stoudemire and coach Mike Woodson hoping the oft-injured forward could be ready by the Oct. 30 regular-season opener.

It doesn't matter if he plays in the opener or not. The bigger issue is how long can he really last, through the season.
If he can be effective for 20 mins and provide a huge lift off the bench during the entire playoffs, that's the best case scenario. Given how weak the eastern conference is, I wouldn't even worry about the regular season.

Amare deserves a break.

This poor guy is injury prone.

The Knicks need some people to step up this season. Melo can't do it all by himself.

Amare may not be pulling his weight but at least he is no Greg Oden.

Don't rush it. Thanksgiving would be perfect.
