10:50 AM ET 10.20 | Derrick Rose believes the Bulls have only one main rival -- and it's the Miami Heat, not the Indiana Pacers. Rose made his feelings known before Friday night's preseason contest against the Pacers. While being respectful regarding Indiana's recent success, Rose acknowledged that he believed any rivalry with the Pacers is a thing of the past. "People say that it's a rivalry, but I don't really see it," Rose said before scoring 32 points in the team's 103-98 win against the Pacers. "I say the team that is more like a rivalry is when Darren Collison was on the team. That one was more like a rivalry, but this team is a great team. They've already proven themselves last year by making it to the Eastern Conference finals. "If anything, by probably in a year or two, it could become a rival. But right now, people say it's a rival. ... I just don't see it right now."

Rose's indirect comment: "The pacers are just another team in our way, on the road to facing the heat in the ECF".

There are very few rivalries in sports. A rival is two traditional good/great teams that play each other, and since both teams are good it is not considered an upset regardless of the final outcome, and the payers for both teams look forward to playing the other team each year. Real rivalries: Lakers-Celtics, Michigan-Ohio State, UNC-Duke, Packers- Bears, Texas, Oklahoma, and a few others. What a lot of people call rivalries are really jealousies. The Yankees-Red Sox, Steelers- Browns, Michigan-Michigan State, etc., where one team has a zillion titles / wins compared to another team and that team/ fan base is jealous of the other tams success is not a real rivalry.

That's because he didn't play them last year. It became a rivalry because the Pacers overtook them last year and they own the division. He better do something or else he could be right but the Pacers having the upper hand and the Bulls being the non-factor.

I dont see how Rose can say that since arguably the Pacers are better on paper not to mention have done much better against the Heat than the Bulls last couple of years.

Then again ESPN thinks Kevin Love is better than Duncan and god help us Parker LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Arguably, at best. I think the Bulls have the better team on paper and on the court. They weren't far behind the Pacers last year with their best player missing the entire year.

Maybe that's a little bit of bulletin board material, but I like it for the EC - and specifically for the Central division - this year.

ESPN has their agenda....they want stars so they can promote them on their broadcaststhey have no use for grinders and winners if they aren't flashy

I wouldn't call Kevin Love a flashy player. He is definitely a grinder, just no titles yet.

I just wish Rose keeps quiet and just play, be a leader. He's kinda sounding like John Wall these days.
