Cushing's season over

07:14 AM ET 10.21 | The Texans can only hope a similar scenario doesn't unfold in 2012, when the team's defense collapsed under similar circumstances. NFL Media's Albert Breer has been told by Texans linebacker Brian Cushing that he believes he tore his LCL and broke his leg. Cushing believes he needs surgery and is thought to be done for the season. Cushing was ruled out right away after Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles' helmet connected directly with Cushing's left knee after Cushing came on a blitz. Cushing had to be helped off the field without putting any pressure on his leg, and he was very emotional. With Cushing out, Darryl Sharpton likely is to enter the starting lineup next to Joe Mays. Houston's defense played well again Sunday, but the Texans fell to 2-5 on the season after falling 17-16 in Kansas City.

It really looked like Charles ducked his head down and went after Cushing's knee. With all the fines for hits from the defensive players, that one should probably draw a look from das Commisar.

Honestly, I think the Texans season might be over.

Gotta give props to Keenum. He stood in there and kept them in the game.

But yeah - they're probably done.

He did do better than I expected as an undrafted player who last faced the mighty D of Memphis.

they spelled career wrong in the title.

They were always on the verge of being really good. Now they are on the verge of being mathematically eliminated.

It did. The hitting zone should be from the shoulder to the thighs. Too many season and possible career ending leg injuries

That's the reason he keeps getting hurt. He's off the juice now

He didn't throw a pick 6. That's an improvement at the QB position right there.
