07:33 AM ET 10.21 | Darren Helm's promotion will mean a demotion somewhere in Detroit. Helm, who has appeared in only one game in the past 18 months due to a variety of injuries, will make his season debut Saturday against the New York Rangers. ... Right wing Patrick Eaves (sprained knee and ankle) also will be activated off of long-term injured reserve by Saturday, forcing the Red Wings to clear two roster spots and some salary-cap space. Fourth-line center Luke Glendening will be reassigned to the Griffins, but the Red Wings will need to trim one more player. Jordin Tootoo appears to be the most susceptible. The Red Wings had no luck moving Tootoo over the summer. Nashville, his former club, was among the teams they contacted. If they can't deal Tootoo for a draft pick or prospect this week, he might be waived.

I hope they keep Thomas Haden Church.

Bummer.....

Why doesn't Holland trade Samuelsen? We could get a bag of pucks as long as their used.

Sure. But ... who wants him? We're not talking Daniel Alfredsson here.

I'd keep Tootoo.

Been watching this Glendening also. He is real good on the PK. A mistake sending him down I think.

He won't be on the wire for too long. Sure, he ain't what he used to be but, he's still a good spare part to have around, just in case.

Yep. Samuelsson would be my obvious choice to move but, who wants him? Then, there's Bertuzzi....

My run of Wings games has come to an end now that Centre Ice is no longer free.

But I thought Todd was playing half arsed well so far this year.

He is. But, his value is slowly diminishing. Holland is trying to find a way to plug in some of the younger players. They have a couple of others knocking on the door. An injury or two and they may get their chance.

Yeah, he's looked pretty good. It's also been maddening to me watching these games and not seeing Nyquist out there.

Btw, did Samuelsson get an assist on Smith's goal the other night? That was a nice assist.

Aww man, it's done now? That's a downer (especially since they won't be on NBC until Dec 4...seriously, wtf!!??). I was having fun on such nights as Thursday (watched Wings, college football, NFL and baseball games) and Saturday (Wings, Clemson-FSU, ND-USC, baseball).

You think the Wings could have played a little better, half the Arena was wearing the Wing.

I recall back in the infancy of pay per view you could buck up for a single game if you chose to.

Now you have to buy the whole package.
