Bulls lacking together time

07:21 AM ET 10.21 | Joakim Noah has a mere 19:45 of preseason game time under his belt, and he'll miss at least two of Chicago's remaining preseason games, too. Jimmy Butler, the new starting shooting guard, has played just two games alongside Derrick Rose and is a game-time decision for Monday's contest against the Bucks with a bruised left knee. And Kirk Hinrich is almost certain to sit. ... "I shouldn't be worried, but I am," said Luol Deng, the Bulls' longest-tenured player. "Because of what we're after and how we feel about our chances this season, the quicker we have everybody back the better." That's a nod to the legitimate championship chances the Bulls believe they possess. The return of Rose to dominant form -- he has scored 54 points in his last 53:27 -- can help the Bulls overcome plenty of ills.

Playing time together doesn't matter right now. The regular season is 82 games which is more than enough time to get it together. The playoffs is all that matters for this team anyway. Everyone just needs to get healthy and stay healthy.

Time Is Not On Your Side, Bros.

Rose, Noah and Deng have three years playing together, and Noah and Deng have four seasons together.....so no big deal if they don't all get to cuddle in the pre-season because they know each other..

Boozer has played two seasons with that group and three seasons with Noah and Deng.....so again, no big deal.

Butler and the rest will be role players.....again, not a big deal since it's the role players who typical come-and-go and have to be worked in to adjust to the core players, anyway.

All this talk about Rose having to get 'reacquanted' on the court with his teammates is nonsense.....way overrated.

Bulls will be fine when the opening tip goes up......

I don't think it's a big deal for Chicago unless they're looking for excuses already. It isn't like a totally new team (like the Nets) and they've never played with each other. Yes it isn't ideal, but pros should know how to deal with injuries and returns. If they brought in a bunch of new free agents, that's another thing. With the same players, they just need to play and stop making excuses.

I don't think anyone was really making excuses here...I'm pretty sure Deng just answered a reporters question. There isn't even a reason to make excuses. They have been playing pretty well as a team so far this preseason.

In the four pre-season games, Rose has:
Played 96 minutes (24 per game)
Scored 80 points (20 per game)
17 assists (4.3 per game)
Shot 6 of 10 3-pointers (60%)
Comitted 7 turnovers (4 were in the first game)

Not bad at all, considering how much he's had to change his game.....no explosion, etc.

October 21, 2013  11:04 AM ET

OH yeah......he's also been to the FT line for 38 attemps. If averaging 36 minutes per game, that comes out to 14 FTs a game.

Dang.....to bad he's not able to attack the rim anymore.......

1. maybe he'd be even better & further along if he had played then?

2. maybe they'd have upset the champs with a few minutes played?

3. maybe the result would've been exactly the same ?

4. but its time to move on......

1. Almost certainly not.

2. No freakin' way.....as much as I'd have liked that scenario.

3. Probably.....or it could've put him back if he'd reinjured the knee in some way.

4. Nah.....I like messin' with all the geniuses who were so sure that he'd have to change his 'style' of play ;-) .

Bring this up after they have played a dozen games or so.

October 21, 2013  07:01 PM ET

Its a long season, with plenty of time to figure it out. Plus it is the EC how hard can it be to make the playoffs...

October 22, 2013  08:48 AM ET

This just in...Rose says he won't play until he's 500%
