Duchene carries some Sacco animosity

07:27 AM ET 10.22 | Matt Duchene is all of 22, but he's now in his fifth NHL season, and he's among the most poised players in the game. [Duchene] reveals a lot about how much he's gone through since he came into the league and how much better he feels playing for this team now as opposed to much of his first four years. And, how much better he feels playing for Patrick Roy as opposed to his first coach, Joe Sacco. Though he never says Sacco by name, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out he had some frustrations. ... Another one the money quotes: "The one thing with Patrick is, there's no doghouse. If you're not doing what you're supposed to do, he's going to bring you in, he's going to sit you down and you're going to correct it constructively and then you're going to move on from there. You don't stay in that doghouse."

When I played, I couldn't stand my coach who was just silent and just benched dudes or cut ice time without knowing why. My high school coach did that crap all the time. Hated it. Once I started playing a college, we had a hard **** coach who demanded 100 times more than my HS coach but his door was always open and you always knew where you stood. It made things so much easier and I enjoyed it so much more.

Some people don't respond well to silence.

Roy really has them playing great now. They did a number on the Pens last night.

Maybe not but with MAF it was enough.

Yeah, but if they were all from center ice...

It is unfathomable to me that Roy would be reasonable, open to communication, endearing even. Seems contrary to what I've known/thought of him.

It could be an act.

A Pens forward hit Landeskog's stick as he was shooting. This made the puck go off at a different angle and it beat Fluery. He looked pretty good last night though. The Pens hit the post, rolled a few just wide of the net. All in all it reminded me of the Boston series.

QUOTE(#1):

Imagine how much further along this team's youngsters would be if they had a coach who had actually let them develop?

I was happy with them right where they were last year.

Really, thought he'd never shut up at times:) English not being his primary but had a good interview with Osgood before the game (that they lost)
