Knicks platooning K-Mart, Amar'e?

07:19 AM ET 10.22 | Kenyon Martin certainly doesn't have Amar'e Stoudemire's contract, but they have more in common with the Knicks. Knicks coach Mike Woodson revealed his regular-season plan for his two backup power forwards, who are being treated as if they are as fragile as glass. Neither has played yet in the preseason, and Woodson revealed Monday night he doesn't anticipate either playing both ends of back-to-back games in the regular season. ... The Martin situation, however, continues a surprising narrative, as he's suddenly being treated as a major injury risk because of chronic ankle pain. It's no wonder the Knicks waited until late July before re-signing him to the veteran's minimum. This new vision could have Stoudemire playing one game of a back-to-back and Martin the other.

Amare I can understand, they have a long term contract and so have to manage minutes. Why wign k-Mart at all, if he cannot play back-to-back? makes no sense.

He is old and injury-prone also. They said Mr. glass so they could be right. Fragile = glass...

....and all for the bargain basement price of $100 million. This would be laughable if it weren't so sad.

my roomate's half-sister makes $80 hourly on the laptop. She has been without work for 9 months but last month her pay check was $14536 just working on the laptop for a few hours. discover this ............ www.pro43.com

Why don't you go join her instead of wasting time here. Maybe if you made $14536, you could learn to spell.

I don't know, but I'm not the GM. I'm just saying, if you need a cover for an often-injured guy, why would you bring in an equally hurt guy?
Perhaps they could have lured Reggie Evans? Big baby? The guy w/o an ACL from the Spurs?

Cause when Kmart is healthy....for a back up, .he's a legit defensive bigHe played great for them last year, til he got hurt.We can make fun of him all you want, but he is a quality defensive piece for a back up...they just can't wear him down during the year.

Not making fun, but posing a legit concern. I have been a fan of KMart all his career, I even got a ball signed from him in ATL few years ago.
You cannot have a injured guy backing up an injured starter/important player.

Think about what you said there..... Amare?!? Defense?!? LOL!!! But all jokes aside he is a good backup, just not defensively....

I agree with you, those back to back games do more damage to older players then you can imagine. Use K Mart and Amare wisely during the season and they might hold up during the playoff.

Agree.KMart is one of the biggest reasons the Clippers made it out of the 1st round 2 Seasons ago. When ZBO put Blake in a corset and stilettos, KMART stepped in and played well.

Didn't Reggie Evans help out a lot also? I remember him frustrating every player he was guarding and got a lot of rebounds. Not last year but the year before...

Marcus Camby is waiting in the wings if they both get hurt, it's win-win!
