Look for Scott Skiles to become the next Indiana men's basketball coach, with assistant Dan Dakich the interim coach for the rest of the season if Kelvin Sampson is replaced this week, as expected.

Look for Charley Walters to be full of garbage and a deiscredit to journalism...as usual.

discredit...sorry

February 17, 2008  11:57 AM ET

oh oh, that's not good. Although he does fit right in with the irate coach tradition established by Bobby. Anyway, great team this year unfortunately going nowhere due to impending mega-sanctions.

No. Dane Fife.

February 17, 2008  01:10 PM ET

Welcome home, Steve Alford...

February 17, 2008  01:55 PM ET

Two coaches that they have to look at no matter what are John Calipari and Rick Pitino.

February 17, 2008  01:56 PM ET

What? I just can't believe how this story went from nothing to something so fast.

February 17, 2008  01:58 PM ET

Pleeeeeese no Steve Alford ! I like the Scott Skiles angle though ! I really think they will go young though, maybe the current VCU coach ?

February 17, 2008  03:40 PM ET

how about Gene Hackman?

February 17, 2008  03:57 PM ET

Dan Dakich SHOULD have been the coach all along instead of Kelvin Sampson. Now he gets to be a caretaker for this mess and then replaced by someone with no connection to I.U.? Why is making the right hiring decision to begin with so difficult? I know that Notre Dame and Indiana are in the same state, but do their AD's have to be Siamese Twins as well? Two idiots who screw up a wet dream!

I.U.'s problem now is finding someone who will actually want to inherit this disaster. Calipari, Pitino and other successful coaches would have all been interested in this job at some point. But not now. What was always a premier program and model of integrity is rapidly becoming the Atlanta Falcons. Greenspan should get the first annual Arthur Blank award for gullibility in believing a chronic liar. He should get that as his going away present.

And yes, I AM an angry IU alum.

I got away with wet dream. Fascinating!

February 17, 2008  04:25 PM ET

i think he could be a good coach in college.

B) One of the Thompson Jr.'s

Skiles grew up in Indiana and won a state title with an insane game, and was mvp. theres your indiana connection

February 17, 2008  05:47 PM ET

idc if he has connections or anything but i did NOT see that one coming

February 17, 2008  05:49 PM ET

Kelvin Sampson needs to be sent packing and the sooner the better.

He screws up at OU then lands on his feet at one of the premier basketball schools in the country and he screws that up before the ink is dry on his contract.

My dad used to say that "ignorance can be cured but stupidity is forever". Kelvin Sampson seems to suffer from terminal stupidity.

February 17, 2008  06:02 PM ET

I think they will wait until the season is over before naming a new coach and if I were IU powers that be it would have to be Alford...

February 17, 2008  06:23 PM ET

Will you guys take Ernie Kent, so we can finally hire Mark Few?

February 17, 2008  06:50 PM ET

First. fire Rick Greenspan and hire Bob Knight as new AD. Then go after Mark Few from Gonzaga.
