Wallace stands by his harsh words

07:19 AM ET 10.23 | Given some time to think about it, Gerald Wallace stood by calling out his new team for a subpar effort Sunday. Coach Brad Stevens supported those Sunday critiques from Wallace and Jeff Green, saying [Tuesday] that the result was one of the best practices of training camp. But, according to Wallace, the coaches have asked him to rein in his words a bit. "I'm getting fussed at by the coaches every time," said Wallace. "They're trying to tell me to relax and ease up. But the main thing is I want the guys to compete. If we lose all 82 games, but we lose them going down fighting and competing hard. I can live with that." ... Wallace, clearly bothered by these early growing pains by a largely young team, went on at length about what is needed.

Wiggins????

i can see Wallace saying this because he has been playing rather hard these pre-season games. His effort is not in question, but Green?? He's been lacking these games and I gave him a pass last year as well, given his surgery recovery etc. But if he does not produce this year...

A group of players with limited ability can only be 'so' good.....and they will lose a lot of games; that's unavoidable.

But not putting forth the effort changes them from being a losing team, into a team of losers.

I'm not a Gerald Wallace fan at all; but he's dead on the money with his criticisms.

Way to step up, Gerald!!!

Better Get Used To It, Bro.

How can you argue with someone who has put in his time. Crash has the right to let these young pups know what is expected of them. A winning team needs a leader and with Rondo down and lack of a secondary leader I say good for you Crash. This takes the heat off the new coach and from what they keep saying, is this not the Celtic way? DA keeps saying that they aren't trying to throw the season, but if they are trying to muzzle Crash that brings serious doubt to that statement. I say keep doing what you're doing Crash, maybe it'll get you traded to a contender, and that's all good.

Just shutty and let the new coach handle it.

Never one for calling out teammates to the media. If the check isn't incentive enough, what is?

It's like the parents who tell their kids that "you're a winner no matter what the outcome", but the older brother still whispers "loser" in their ears. X^D *Hahaha* I'm not questioning anyone in this except Jeff Green. I really want him to step up and be "that guy", but if he can't or won't, them I'm completely content with players like Gerald Wallace taking his minutes.

I am totally on board with what Wallace said... Even Courtney Lee said something to this effect ("Effort requires no talent.")

I thought that was what they called "veteran leadership"???
