07:23 AM ET 10.24 | From the outside, it appears former Oregon tight end Colt Lyerla's football career may be in peril. [Lyerla] was arrested by Lane County's Interagency Narcotics Team on Wednesday for unlawful possession of cocaine and interfering with a police officer, yet an NFL talent evaluator said his future in professional football isn't necessarily over. In a report from the Lane County Sheriff's Office late Wednesday, officers working an unrelated case in the area of Seventh Avenue and Polk Street in Eugene saw Lyerla in a parked car "snorting what appeared to be a white powdery substance. ... An NFL talent evaluator who wished to remain nameless because he was not authorized to speak publicly about prospects said Wednesday that, "He will get a chance but it might not be till he proves he's on the right track."

Colt's partying with the NFL money he hasn't even got yet ... or now is ever likely to get. Wrecked in the Drug Ditch.

Yeah they don't need that kind of headache. He left on his own accord too, but I think the coaches pretty much told him to shape up or ship out. He made his choice now has to deal with it.

Sounds like Colt is making good use of some of the cash his agency advanced him.

PDX, good comment and I think you are right when you said that Lyerla left on his own, but I'm thinking that the coaches were shoving him out the door.
