07:24 AM ET 10.24 | Irish fans, remember the name Blake Barnett, who traveled to South Bend this past weekend merely hoping to get to know the staff and introduce himself as a player interested in the program. But when he and his parents were called into head coach Brian Kelly's office on Saturday, Barnett found out the Irish were much more interested than he realized. "He said that he's watched my film, really likes the way that I play and he said 'I'm going to go ahead and offer you,'" Barnett said of his conversation with Kelly. "I wasn't expecting it at all." With the Irish becoming the third program to offer Barnett, joining UCLA and Arizona, he might want to get used to the offering process. The 6-foot-4, 195-pound quarterback has turned a stellar start to his junior season at Corona (Calif.) Santiago High into FBS scholarship options.

247 list Barnett as a Pro-style QB. Wonder if that fits with Kelly's offensive package?

Yes, if you believe what ND is saying.

Not this season, due back for the winter term.

Kelly is an aggressive recruiter, and this season proves you cannot have too many QB prospects on your wish list (boy, that kid, Gunnar Kiel, made a bad decision)!

You're saying it was all Kiel's fault.

Think it through son. And ask Mr. Kelly just what QB he has developed in his college coaching career that amounted to diddly bop. He may be a while getting back to you on that one.

I thought Gohlson was done cheating in school and was going to come back???

He is in California for the months of September and October attending a $200 a day QB camp. Ya could look it up. Coach thought that would be a better idea than squaring away the academic poor judgement stuff in the fall semester.

next two years, starting in 2014. worked out well for everybody. he keeps his scolly, works on his game from QB professionals this fall, and has two years left to play at ND. Smooth moves by all.

Yep, as long as somebody can afford to sent their kid to a two month long $200 a day camp and cover his room and board and transportation in California. Grateful alumni no doubt.

As opposed to Cardale Jones, the QB at ohio state that tweeted:
"We ain't come to play school. Classes are pointless."
