Suns, Bledsoe working on contract extension

04:45 PM ET 10.24 | The Phoenix Suns and guard Eric Bledsoe are in the midst of working on a contract extension, this according to Arizona Sports. Bledsoe, who was acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers earlier this offseason, has yet to play in a regular season game for the Suns, but they feel the risk is worth the reward considering Bledsoe would become a restricted free agent at season's end if the two sides can't come to an agreement before the Oct. 31 deadline. Unlike highly coveted big men who enter restricted free agency and are almost always matched by their team, guards are less likely to be matched, considering they're far easier to replace. The Suns aren't interested in allowing another team to bid on his services, so they're doing whatever they can to beat the deadline.

I really like Bledsoe. He is one of the better second tier guards. Now that he can step out of the shadow of Chris Paul it will be interesting to see how he fares.

Hmmm he has potential, but he hasn't proven much just yet. So I don't see the need to rush. But, this all depends on the $$ of this extension...

Come Back To LA, Bro.

They can still trade him by All star break. No rush needed.

Great addition, super ball player, the Clippers will definitely miss this kid. Super good player!

Not really. They have Chris Paul starting and added Darren Collison as a backup, which is what his role is. They'll be just fine.

There were times last year when that Bledsoe-led 2nd team Clippers would have beat the first string EASILY. Bledsoe, don't sign now, because I am not sure that other than the Clippers' fans, the NBA has seen him day in and day out. A star in the making...

Wall got extended when no one was competing for his services (yet)
Favors got extended for doing simply nothing

Guess it's called the "herd" mentality of GMs, just to do what everyone else seems to be doing, regardless of logic.
