07:37 AM ET 10.25 | Prior to this week, John Scott had never been suspended during his six years in the National Hockey League player, and he'll hope it won't happen again. Thursday morning at First Niagara Center, Scott was apologetic for the hit, rejected claims he was a "goon" and defended his head coach. For starters, Scott said he didn't realize his check caught Eriksson in the head. "It happened pretty fast," Scott said. "I don't think I'm a dirty player," Scott said. "I try to play within the code, within the rules. This is my first suspension. I don't try to be a dirty player. I kind of feel really upset. I was sick to my stomach last night knowing what happened, watching the video. I just kind of regret the whole situation. I don't want to be a dirty player."

Scott knows he is drawing a VERY nice paycheck, and wants to keep the gravy train rolling as long as possible. So he will say all the necessary things to accomplish this, including the quotes above.

Advice to Scott: take a page from Clarkson, accept the impending punishment and shut up.

If he's suspended for 10 games he could lose upwards of $900.00.

Scott Gomez ... minus the PMs

25 - that's all I've got to say to this very large pile and the Nat Ho League. Like I've said before, fine the Coaches, GM and the franchise, i.e. the owner(s), proportionally - as in 25/82 x their salaries, and combined gate equalization and shared television revenues. Viola - no more goons, no more bad hits, a lot more exciting hockey. The marked increase in te touchy feely calls isn't doing it.

Not defending this idiot...but it is one bad play on a star player.

I have no vested interest since neither team is mine, but it looks like a marginal player trying to make a play on a shift where he was sent out to make a statement. I have seen worse. I hope Loui is okay and recovers quick.

I appreciate your point, but unfortunately he is already in the league. You want to stop this you need to drop down to jr.s , and stop the promotion of this type of lack of talent.

Combined gate equalization and shared television revenues will do nothing to improve the game otherwise I agree.Scott is garbage and Buffalo would be ashamed to dress this clown if they had any class.

Honestly I think they are just trying to fill out a roster. They aint got much up there.
