Cam Newton credits teammates for improved play

03:55 PM ET 10.25 | Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been playing incredibly well the past few weeks and the Panthers are on a three-game winning streak as a result. In the most recent blowout win Newton threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns, with 50 yards and another touchdown on the ground, but following the game he wouldn't take credit for his outstanding play. Instead, Newton decided to show off some leadership and maturity by crediting those around him. The Panthers have scored 30 or more points in all of their wins, and Newton has been a big part of that. If he wants to thank his teammates and shine the spotlight on them, the main attention should go to the defensive side of the ball. Carolina's defense, which is one of the best in the league, has allowed twenty points or more just twice this season. If they can continue to play dominant defense while having turnover-free football on the offensive side of the ball, Newton and the teammates he credits will continue enjoying their success all the way to the postseason.

Give him props for not hogging the spotlight, but he's right. It's hard to make forward progress when you are constantly digging yourself out of a hole. The 'D' won't let the hole be dug.

That's the right thing to say.

Playing Tampa has proven to be a confidence boost for 6 other teams so far as well.

I played a guy 2 weeks ago when he came out of his slump who had him. Handed me my 2nd loss. I think he had 41 points.

Playing the Cards, Giants and Rams hasn't hurt either. The Panthers have the Falcons, Saints and Pats coming up... let's see how they do against teams that haven't proven to be just speedbumps on everyone's schedule.

Cam cooks.

Wins are the barometer in which success is measured. However, there have been games this year in which he has looked like he is going through the motions of a practice. He needs to continue to come into each game and play like it means something.

Yep. Easy to be Mr. Nice guy when you are winning. Lets see. Jury is still deliberating.
