TNT's Smith angling for Knicks job?

And if anyone has been watching closely on MSG, they have seen much more of Kenny Smith, whose main gig is as TNT's NBA studio analyst. There's no scientific proof of this, but lately, Smith, when he works Knicks games on MSG, is sounding like a GM. And at times he sounds very much like a coach. Ya think maybe his increased presence around the Garden has anything to do with him wanting one -- or both - of Isiah Thomas' gigs?

Is that the normal press photo for TNT folks? If so, can I have his job?

February 17, 2008  11:16 AM ET

Looks like ol' Kenny is harassing much hotter ladies than Isiah... but does he have the pictures that Zeke is blackmailing Dolan with?

February 17, 2008  11:59 AM ET

At least niether of the bunnies have filed a lawsuit against kenny or TNT (LOL)

February 17, 2008  12:17 PM ET

kenny couldn't coach his way out of a wet paper bag. he's really not much of a change from isiah..........all talk

February 17, 2008  12:46 PM ET

Anything would be an improvement over Isiah, But this job requires someone who knows what he's doing. Dolan hired an on the job trainee last time and look what happened.
Another potential candidate, Warriors GM Chris Mullin told confidants he felt the Knicks' job may be too much of a challenge and was afraid he'd ruin his reputation in his hometown of New York if he failed. This job needs someone who's done it before.

Anything is an improvement over the current situation. But Smith needs to work through the system first. He needs to start as an assistant coach and move up from there. Then again, seeing how he doesn't have the experience, Dolan will probably hire him!

Kenny should have worn a white Panama hat in this photo.

Why would Kenny Smith want this job?

After the Isiah debacle does it really make sense to hire a guy with no coaching experience, whatsoever?

February 17, 2008  02:41 PM ET

OMG. Being a fan of this team borders on masochism these days.

Fire Isiah, get Coangelo and Jeff van Gundy and there may be hope.

"Anything would be an improvement over Isiah"

Hllywd; ya think?

I actually like Kenny...He allows me to make it through Charles Barkley and his idiocy, however, I would hate to see him ruin his rep with a gig like the Knicks right about now as Jesus himself would have had to fast 40 days before taking over this mess...Leave truly dirty jobs for the pros...

i hope he stays i love watching their post game shows kenny, charles, and ej have great chemistry together.

Good pix

Looks like he is doing just fine where he is in that pic. Think he is angling for something there..cannot go wrong either way.

I'am with you Naboo, It's got to change .

NY can have Pat back

February 18, 2008  12:23 AM ET

Is there any proof of this? Everyone on tv can do a better job of fixing the knicks, and they get paid to offer their opinion. I couldn't see Kenny coaching unless Charles and Magic are his assistants.

Why would CNNSI pick this photo...this looks like some random photo taken by a fans personal digital camera.....ridiculous, I expect more from a reputable media outlet....horrific MUCH! And fellas, TERRIBLE comments...not the "ugly broad from the lawsuit" The Houston, c'mon...sexist MORE!
