10:29 AM ET 10.27 | Second-guessing the manager? Can we go a little higher? How about 184th-guessing him? John Farrell left himself wide open to the armchair critics after last night's wild 5-4 loss to the Cardinals in Game 3 of the World Series. The game ended in unprecedented fashion, with third baseman Will Middlebrooks flagged for obstruction after the Red Sox believed they had heart-stoppingly cut down two runners at the plate. The Red Sox were in a position to lose, however, because of a series of questionable moves that started as a trickle of snow and ended as an avalanche.

The runner was tripped and the umps got the call right. It's was not the manager but the players. I do like the Red Sox but by the team having those **** breads it makes them look like the old baseball team House of David. They are still a bunch of cry baby's and you can smell their mental BO through the TV. But I like both teams.

Tough to second guess a guy who won 97 games with a team that all the experts picked to come in last place in the AL East. It's no secret that Farrell does his best work in the clubhouse, and game managing is not his strong suit. The same could be said for Terry Francona, difference is he had Brad Mills sitting right beside him to help in those situations. Farrell needs a Brad Mills.

Now we can see why Farrell likes the DH with no decisions to make. He miss a double switch opportunity late in the game and didn't get Napoli to the plate.

Bad Rule, but correct call, too bad it didn't happen in the bottom of the 8th, would have liked to see The sox get another chance at the plate!

I was shocked to see Workman come to the plate to bat against Rosenthal in the 9th.

Bad rule? Do you really want the umps trying to read minds to determine whether obstruction was intentional? That would turn into a mess very quickly.

The Sox only had 6 hits all games so it's not a sure thing that another set of at bats would have changed anything. It is not a bad rule and it was a correct call.

"Mental BO"?
Interesting term; explain?

you are correct. It was the right call regardless of when it happened. If the third basemen's legs stayed on the ground there would have been no obstruction. Also, peevey should ****

It would have been obstruction because Craig got caught up on the thigh of Middlebrooks. The raised feet did NOT initiate the call...... The umpire expressed that during the post game interview.

I was too. Not sure I understand Farrell's thinking on that one.
