11:06 AM ET 10.27 | Faurot Field's north end zone has another story to tell, just not as good as Steve Spurrier's. Sometimes these things happen to Missouri. Sometimes Missouri allows them to happen. It's up the eye of the Tiger to discern which on Saturday night. That north end zone at 87-year old Faurot that has been the site of a Fifth Down (1990) and a Flea Kicker (1997) became the soul-crushing location of The Boink Saturday night. That was the sound made by the ball launched by Missouri kicker Andrew Baggett in the second overtime as it slammed against the left upright assuring South Carolina an escape and the Tigers more national stage infamy.

The same thing happened to the Oregon kicker last year when his field goal try hit off the upright and was no good in a OT loss to Stanford.. It cost Oregon a chance at the National Championship. Crap happens.

"It was all that Dan Marino's fault, everyone knows that. If he had held the ball, laces out, like he was supposed to, Ray would never have missed that kick"

The 5th down game is an absolute blemish upon CFB and a stain upon Colorado that cannot be washed away nor faded by the years. To atone for their lack of sportsmanship (and their honorless coach - Jesus won't cleanse you of this sin, McCartney), Colorado should forfeit the game to Mizzou, renounce the 1990 AP "National Championship," and make a gift of $1.3 million ($100k for every year since that game) to Mizzou.
