11:20 AM ET 10.27 | James Harden bumped knees with Memphis wing Quincy Pondexter on Friday night and was forced to leave the game. Rockets coach Kevin McHale told reporters that Harden had a bruised knee and is day-to-day. Neither McHale nor Harden thought the injury was serious after the game. There's been no report of an MRI or ther diagnostic scheduled, which is rare since that's the approach most teams take with it. Hopefully it's minor and Harden will be set to go for the Rockets' opener Wednesday vs. the Bobcats.

It will be a tough year for the Rockets if they lose this guy for a big chunk of the year.

A bruised knee shouldn't mean he'll miss a large chunk of the season. Treatment and he can play with it. At worst, he misses a few weeks to a month.

Houston needs Harden to be healthy to have any shot at making noise this year. He is much more valuable to the team than Howard or Lin.
