Jets as humiliated as ever

07:10 AM ET 10.28 | In the standings, Gang Green sits at 4-4, but that doesn't quite cover how badly things went in Cincinnati. There's grotesque. There's overmatched, and undermanned, and outwitted. There's Bengals 49, Jets 9, which only tells a fraction of how bad it really was, which only provides a hint of how truly detached the Jets felt from the Bengals, separated by 40 points and a few dozen layers of NFL competitiveness. ... For the most part -- well, every other week anyway -- these Jets have actually been a feel-good story, especially when you factor in just how little was expected of them. One game doesn't wipe that out, doesn't wipe it clean. But one game can be awfully sobering, and humbling. And, yes, humiliating.

Damn... And gang green was just starting to smell themselves.

The Jets have heard that so many times it lost all meaning.

It's a rebuilding year with a rookie QB. These games will happen. Eli Manning had a QB rating of 0 in a game in his rookie year. Plus, the Bengals are pretty good this year.

They were still enjoying the win against the Pats from the week before.

ain't karma a b*tch!

The other side of this is that the Bengals are a good team just starting to get into sync.

Andy Dalton when he was a rookie QB guided the Bengals to the playoffs. Geno Smith is not that good of a QB.

All valid points... especially that one about Cincinnati.

+1

It's about time isn't it? How many times has Marvin Lewis been on the hot seat the past five seasons?

They were giving themselves too much credit for beating the Pats and not giving the Bengals enough credit for being a good football team. That's a coaching problem right there!

Deep down, underneath it all...

they are still the Jets

Some days you are the hammer. Some days you are the nail.

Well I guess that makes Mark Sanchez a great QB. Seeing as how he "guided" his team to the AFC Champ. game as a rookie and all.
