The face of the Rockies

07:18 AM ET 10.28 | On the surface of things, Troy Tulowitzki might make for a nice fit in St. Louis. He would fit perfectly with the Cardinals, who have the prospects to make a mega deal happen, starting with first baseman Matt Adams and some mix of outfielder Stephen Piscotti, second baseman Kolton Wong and reliever Carlos Martinez. The reason it hasn't and is not expected to this winter? Rockies owner Dick Monfort has said he will not trade Tulo or Carlos Gonzalez during the offseason. ... Tulowitzki understands the landscape in Denver has changed. Todd Helton, who offered sound advice to the all-star shortstop before he retired, is gone. Most fans will expect the 2014 Rockies to be Tulo's team. He's not worried about any of that. He wants to stay in the lineup, play well and see where that leaves the Rockies.

Too bad, I'd love to see it.

More than that would be overpaying. That's a fair contract. It's not a team friendly contract.

Given that the Cards were smart enough to not extend Pujols, I can't see them trading a big package of talent for Tulo. The guy spends way too much time on the DL and he's under contract for pretty big bucks until he's 35. You also can't take his stats completely at face value, although his home advantage is not nearly what guys like Bichette enjoyed in the "old" days in CO.
The Cards have enough money to pay the guy without trouble and I could see them taking a flyer on him if that's all it took, but they're too smart to give up a lot of young talent for an aging, injury-prone SS. He is a very fine player when he's in the lineup.

My thoughts are that I'd be happy as long as he was healthy in October.

This deal just might be what it would take to put the Cards over the top and land them in the World Series!

Yeah, no way they're going to make it with Kozma in there...
;^)

The Cards will not give up a lot of prospects for a injured pronged over paid shortstop who will be making close to 20 mill when his contract is up in Denver.

No, no they won't.

It would be out of their organizational character to do so.

What's the point in keeping a lot of prospects who are blocked for a long time? I'm hoping to see them fill their holes by trading prospects this winter. Short is one of those holes. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of top shortstops available. I also consider centerfield a place where they need an upgrade. Jay has regressed as a hitter. Taveras isn't a centerfielder no matter how fast he is.

I maybe wrong but, arent the cardinals playing the RedSox in the world series no? Kozma will probably not win any batting titles, but has played pretty well defensively. The critical error in game 1 excluded. The Cardinals has played Descalso at SS has held his own defensively and better hitter.

I'm greedy. I want better if possible.

Teams know how bad the Cardinals want to load up to field best team hey can. Teams will want a cache of talent in return for who the Cardinals might want, including one or more of their young pitchers and a position player like Adams or Wong, depending on the teams need. possibly even Carpenter or Craig. Teams will try to find out just how bad the Cardinals want a certain player.

October 28, 2013  12:24 PM ET

Adams, Kozma, and one of the pitchers not named Wainwright, Miller, Wacha, or Rosenthal for Tulo. That pitcher would likely be Lynn or Martinez. That may not get it done; but it's a good starting point.. Sign Beltran and use Taverez as the fourth outfielder this year. Craig stays at first to save wear and tear.

I'd rather it not be Kelly. He's hitting his stride and I like it.
