Colts stuck with their WR corps

07:12 AM ET 10.29 | A good number of fans in Indianapolis miss Reggie Wayne, obviously, but few miss him as much as Andrew Luck. [Luck] will have to distribute all those passes once intended for Wayne to someone, so the search is on to find who is best suited to take a leading role in the Colts' passing game. T.Y. Hilton's role has steadily increased in recent weeks, his 54 pass targets second only to Wayne's 58. That leaves Darrius Heyward-Bey to shoulder a bigger workload. ... And the Colts will have to move forward with essentially what they've got. There's no splashy transaction expected ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline because the Colts don't have the draft picks or salary-cap space to execute a significant deal -- no matter how willing wheeling and dealing general manager Ryan Grigson might be.

Forget the Broncs, 49ers, Chiefs and the Seahawks. Even without Reggie Wayne, the Colts is still one dangerous team. My money is on Luck to be a top 5 QB by next season.

Good thing they acrued Trent Richardson and his 3.1 yards per carry.

Hmmmm. But isn't "one dangerous team" singular?

Only in Nap Town could a sports thread devolve into a discussion of verbs.

This is the guy who has to pick it up. The running game has to start making up for Wayne not being there.

Good thing they acquired Trent Richardson and his 3.1 yards per carry.

You guys are funny. Looks like we are stuck with who we have. Griff Whalen will fill in nicely and TY is good + Fleener will be used on 3rd downs more I am sure. Don't give up on 3.0 Trent either. I still think he will be good and have a few nice games coming up. He is a tough runner, the Colts Run Blocking isn't very good so I still give him a pass so far for his minimal yardage.

Much has been made about the Pat receivers as well and the bottom line is if the QB is good enough he will find ways to make it work.

I agree. I think losing Wayne last season would've been much worse because Luck was a Rookie making Rookie mistakes and needed Wayne much more to bail him out of situations. Luck is much better this season as far as accuracy and just being smart, not as many yards this season but his decision making and finding the right WR in spots light years better.

WTH?

As of now I still agree with the trade because basically Indy got a #3 pick and probably (is) giving up a #20-25 pick or so? Indy needed at worse a good short yardage guy that could catch as well and block for Luck and score down by the Goaline and Trent has done that at least. With Ballard and Bradshaw out we needed that trade.

I think you have to give credit to the O-line too.

LOL!!!

If it's no drama in Washington, is ain't the fall!

He's been pretty much a wreck for years. Provides "colorful" commentation for various news outlets when they feel brave enough. In his interviews he sweats like a hostage.... Probably still has substance issues.

The views, expressions, and comments of Dexter Manley are NOT that of the Washington Redskins.
