07:17 AM ET 10.29 | In terms of marquee matchups, this is how the NBA wanted things to start: Bulls-Heat. The end of the Miami Heat's practice Monday served as the perfect set up for the season-opener. The Heat fully expect a physical challenge against the Chicago Bulls Tuesday, so it made sense they ended their workout with a football-like drill. It will surely give them an indication of what's to come once the 2013-14 season tips off at AmericanAirlines Arena. "We don't like them, they don't like us," forward LeBron James said. "It's not unheard of. We all know how it is." James was one of four Heat players to participate in a drill with assistant coaches David Fizdale and Juwan Howard at the end of practice. It involved each player driving toward the basket for a dunk or layup. Once they got to the rim, they were hit by Howard with a pad.

Way to earn a ring, Juwan!I got the Heat, Pacers and Clips tonight.NBA is FINALLY back!!!!Gooooooooo Clippers!!!!

I got Clipps, Pacers, and Bulls. It's only regular season that's why Bulls will step up and Heat will be lackadaisical...

Hit with a pad? Big freakin' whoop!

I used to run that "drill" with my daughter's club team.....when they were in the 5th grade!

Its too bad its only game 1 There will be juice, but there's no urgency

When you got two teams pushin' for 60 wins this season.....AND......the fact that they really don't like each other (plus the fact that the Bulls' would love to spoil there 'ring' presentation); you can bet there will be some urgency connected to this game.

I don't like the Bulls either, but Rose is growing on me......

Jack always comes through with the quotables. This game will be good playoff basketball atmosphere for the first game of the season. Ring ceremony, Rose back, and two teams capable of coming out of the east that don't like each other. Every game involving Heat against, Pacers, Bulls and Nets will be good IMO because the players don't like each other.

Try running it when a 6ft10 250 lb man is smacking you with it.

Its a legit drill to muster contact.

The Bulls are physical but the Heat will not have a problem with them.

I think the beef should be more the other way around since Miami has sent them packing each of the last 2 seasons.

They just showed that little drill on ESPN. Howard was barely tapping them with the pad. It was a useless drill for SportsCenter purposes.
