Karlsson cursed by Norris win

07:30 AM ET 10.29 | Forgive fans for their lofty expectations when it comes to Erik Karlsson, though it hasn't been easy for the player himself. Winning the Norris Trophy when he was just 21 two seasons ago is turning out to be a curse for [Karlsson]. ... Everyone is waiting for him to do something great again. And again, and again and again. "You guys have lifted up the expectations pretty high," Karlsson said to three veteran reporters after the Senators practised at Canadian Tire Centre on Monday. "You talk about me like I was some (bleeping) god or something. "It's not easy to live up to that." Karlsson knows it was he who set the expectations high by scoring 19 goals and 59 assists in 81 games en route to being voted the NHL's best defenceman during the 2011-12 campaign. He also knows he hasn't been the same player since.

Was at the game vs Anaheim last night. It looked like he took the entire evening off, including getting an assist on the Ducks' winning goal.

Those quotes don't sound too good. The year he won the norris, he was more of a 13th forward rather than a #1 defensemen. Anyone that ranked in the bottom of ice time during the PK, like he was the year he won the norris, shouldn't be considered for the award. He won it strictly because he can score, not because he was shutting down opponents top lines.

Criteria for winning the Norris sure has changed...

Unlike 1981?

I've always thought that the Norris trophy was given out for the wrong reasons. They more or less look at how many goals the defenseman scores instead of how good he is at stopping the other team from scoring. Just like last years Norris trophy winner and the fact that Letang was a finalist. I don't think Letang is the best defenseman on the Penguins let alone the whole NHL.

Can't fool you can I? RCMP has sent folks down here looking for the PK supporter in Cleveland! Apparently that's considered a crime in some spots.
