Coughlin's coming back

07:16 AM ET 10.30 | At various points along the course of his Giants tenure, Tom Coughlin's job status has been dissected and questioned, taken on and off the hot seat, particularly over the past few seasons. [Coughlin] will be back as Giants head coach next season if he so desires, and no one should be surprised if he coaches them until he's 70. How do I know this? I listened to general manager Jerry Reese on Tuesday. Reese gave his State of the Giants bye-week address and made it sound as if the rest of the organization might be 2-6, not Coughlin. And it wouldn't matter if Coughlin is 67 or 37. ... [Reese] said he believes in Coughlin at a time when the Giants have been granted new life by the sorry state of the NFC East, and gave strong indications ownership does as well. As it should.

Still a good coach. Just stuck with a bunch of over the hill and injury prone players. GM Jerry Reese should be the one in question.

Now the Giants just need to draft or trade for 22 or so decent players.

Not a surprise...nothing new here.

Even if they were their annual 6-2, the thread would be about his second half swoon

Could you imagine an East team eliminating someone from the playoffs?heavy

No..well, at least not the Cowboys who don't beat teams with winning records.

Sure. Themselves.

This could be another year that a team gets to the playoffs with a losing record. They should do something about that. At least, make them go on the road to play a wild card team with a better record.

I think they dust this off and use it 2 or 3 times a year.

I've been saying for weeks that 7-9 takes the division.
