Mets looking to deal a first baseman

07:23 AM ET 10.30 | Heading into the offseason, Mets COO Jeff Wilpon described the Mets as a franchise "in transition," and changes are projected. "We have definite deficiencies we have to fill this offseason and the ability to do it," Wilpon said. ... "I think that is good. We have a glut of first baseman, in some terms you can count five if you wanted to, and something has got to happen there with the logjam." ... "There has been some interest already," Wilpon said of the Mets excess of first baseman. "Where that interest goes and what that interest brings back you got to let that play out a little bit. It probably won't be until the GM meetings or the winter meetings." Obviously the Mets will go into the free-agency period looking to make a decision whether they can continue with struggling first baseman Ike Davis.

Don't know about your first basemen, but we loved your outfielder in Pittsburgh. Pirates need a power hitting first baseman and if you've got one, maybe Huntington can make a deal.

Losing teams always have "gluts" at positions. A cadre of guys not good enough to be " the " guy.

Oh boy, that .180 hitting super power guy Ike Davis might be available?

He'd be worth a look if you could get him cheap enough. A change of scenery would probably do Davis good. But based on how awful he was last year, I wouldn't give up much for him. Certainly not a top prospect.

The Mets might draw more interest offering Satin or Turner and might get more in return. Ike Davis might get the Mets a bat boy to be named later. Or be throw in with a later trade.
