07:27 AM ET 10.30 | It's a good thing for Alabama head coach Nick Saban that Twitter followers don't count on the scoreboard. [Saban] just faced ( Tennessee's Butch Jones) has more than 100,000 Twitter followers. The one he beat in the 2012 BCS National Championship (Brian Kelly) recently reached six figures and the one he'll host at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Nov. 9 ( LSU's Les Miles) has more than any coach in college football. Saban, of course, has zero, and he reaffirmed Tuesday that he has no plans to join the social media juggernaut. "I've never considered joining Twitter, nor do I know why anybody would," Saban said. "There's a lot of people that do and I guess that I'm one of the ones in the minority." Saban and South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier are the only two SEC coaches without a Twitter account.

Probably a help in recruiting; if the kids are doing it don't you want to be heard by them?
Personally, I agree it's a waste of time but I don't need it for my job; coaches might.

How many members of Saban's staff have twitter accounts? Including student interns and grad assistants?

October 30, 2013  12:30 PM ET

Does Bama football have a twitter account staffed by students, pumping out Bammer propaganda (ought to, fine idea)? Bama athletics? How many sports teams at Bama have twitter accounts? What's the official school policy?

Saban is too busy shining national championship hardware to have time to tweet.
