Disgusted Capuano mulling shakeup

07:32 AM ET 10.30 | To open the day, the buzz in Uniondale on Tuesday had everything to do with Thomas Vanek and his Islanders debut against the Rangers. By the end of the night, a visibly disgusted Jack Capuano was thinking about bringing in some more new faces to Nassau Coliseum after a 3-2 loss to the Blueshirts. "I've got to be careful what I say here," Capuano began. "Our 'D' has to play better, that's the bottom line. ... We'll think about recalling a guy and putting him in the lineup. I don't know. The same mistakes can't happen, we've only got six of them back there." ... The Isles' top defensive pairing of Andrew MacDonald and Travis Hamonic is undoubtedly safe, but Capuano couldn't have been clearer in putting his other defensemen on notice.

The Isles are a joke. Giving a one of their top players and a 1st and a 2nd for a rented player? Vanek is jumping ship at the end of the season, and after yet ANOTHER boneheaded management move, most of the players may have jumped ship already.

He's got every right to be livid. What a paltry performance last night. They were lucky to even get 2 goals this game.

You know it's a pretty bad night when your best player is Clutterbuck. The defense is atrocious and I think Capuano realizes that. Donavon is not NHL ready, Carkner is beyond pathetic and Martinek is pretty much the lone result for the third goal.

Yes - he does need a hairdresser. He looks like he's on his way to a Quiet Riot concert in 1984.

There are a few caveats to the deal that make it a little more attractive. Buffalo is eating some salary and that 1st rounder is protected if it's a top 10. It's not completely horrible. It's a gamble and we won't know the results of this trade until after the deadline.

Still, I'd think it would mess up some locker room chemistry to see Moulson traded like that. I mean it can't be good for moral if there weren't any Moulson in the locker room after the game.

:-) The way they played last night it should be Zima.

I wouldnt be too concerned after losing to the powerhouse Rangers . Many will have this feeling as the season goes on.

October 30, 2013  09:18 AM ET

Did the Isles play with an empty net last night?

Olive Oil. It doubles as sun-tan lotion for protection from the Cleveland sun as well as moisturizer after that Lake Erie wind has had its way with your bald head

Perhaps Twisted Sister and We're Not Gonna Take It would have been a little more apropos although Quiet Riot's Bang Your Head works...

to this point, I was out for a bit last night and listened on the radio. Something happened with Carkner, and Dave maloney said the Rangers should not let Carkner take any penalties, they should want him on the ice as often as possible. Kenny Albert then says, so if you were a GM, he wouldn't be on your list?
Maloney said NO WAY, he's awful...
funny and frankly refreshing to hear it told so straight

Carkner needs to void his own contract, apologize and start a landscaping business. The guy flat out STINKS.
