07:28 AM ET 10.31 | Though he had another offer from Golden State, Masai Ujiri liked the title he was offered by Denver: Director of Global Scouting. "It seemed like it was me," he says. "Global." He was promoted to assistant GM, and two years later Denver needed a general manager, and hired him. He had to trade Carmelo Anthony to start, because Anthony wanted to play in New York. Ujiri did a good job. Denver had pieces, but wasn't really going anywhere. So Ujiri made trades, drafted well, made more trades. ... They won 57 games last year without a superstar of any kind. Ujiri was named executive of the year. He has been less active in Toronto, so far. Sources say he has talked about moving Rudy Gay, but he has been patient. He dealt Andrea Bargnani, built a bench that may double as a self-destruct button, and prepared.

They are waiting for the Rudy stock to rise before dealing him. The thing is how many teams "need" Rudy at 18, 19Mill. Teams would rather tank than sign him at that rate or trade for him. In order to move him you need another high price piece or three teams involved.

What team would trade for that contract? That's huge for a player who hasn't been an all star. He'll fit in well w/ another star player. Clippers could use him.

The only way this works is if the Raps take back 2 or 3 overpriced dregs and a draft pick (the other team would need to clear cap space and the Raps want to be in the Andrew Wiggins sweepstakes).

LOL!!! I've been hoping for this for awhile now. He's taking key minutes from Terrence Ross whom needs to learn how to grow.. Kid is being stunted because Rudy is on the roster.

I had to read the headline twice,,,,,I misremembered the word moved for "turn"

In actuality, the story was suppose to be about Rudy Gay, who isn't mentioned until the last two sentences....

Don't Come To LA, Bro.

Rudy Gay is a player I invision going to the Lakers either by trade or free agency. I don't see him returning to Toronto after his contract expires and with the Lakers having an empty roster next season he will be one of the players that will absorb some of that cash the Lakers will have to spend during the off-season.

It will not be easy to move Rudy. I see no way around that it is always difficult to move high priced free agents. If I am Toronto I want 1st round pick maybe a split time PG as well

Whether he's been an all-star or not is entirely unimportant......I mean, Gerald Wallace was an all-star. You gonna say GW is a better player than RG?

He's consistently scored 19 ppg since his second year in the league.

The only question is whether those 19 ppg is worth the cheddar he's been (and will be) paid.

he's movable cause he actually plays-he's like JJ.
he'll get his 18 pts quietly and is overpaid, but you can live with overpaying guys if they actaully produce

Rudy Gay is the best player on Toranto.....and he's 27 years old.

That is all.

October 31, 2013  12:26 PM ET

Rudy is worthless. Overpaid underachiever. He cant shoot from deep. Doesn't play D. Cant post up. Has a decent one dribble j...that is it.

It will be hard to trade even for picks. Salaries have to match. They could trade him to the Lakers for Pau or Nash. But that's not happening. Dumbtonie will never trade Nash.
