07:29 AM ET 10.31 | In losing to the 76ers, title-favorite Miami was bound to endure some backlash. In Wednesday's case, however, the brilliant play of rookie Michael Carter-Williams overshadowed anything else that happened in the contest. After struggling for much of the preseason and casting plenty of doubt in the process, the point guard posted a jaw-dropping line in his first game as a pro: 22 points on six-of-10 shooting, four-of-six shooting from the 3-point line, six-of-eight free throws, seven rebounds, 12 assists, nine steals and just one turnover. ... After the contest, Magic Johnson predicted that the guard out of Syracuse would be this season's rookie of the year: I just got done watching the guy I think will be the Rookie of The Year, Michael Carter-Williams of the 76ers.

Nope there are 81 more games to go, we could of easily lost that game. On the topic no Magic just no give him 15 games and then let us start talking. MCW will have a Rondo effect he will do a lot of things on defense, rebounding, asisting and scoring will be the last thing he will do. I expect plenty of 8point, 7 reb, 3 steals, 7 assist, 4 TO games. He will be a stat sheet stuffer though that is obvious but I expect more turnovers. His jumper was on which was a surprise.

I follow the same sentiment. This is a great welcome to the nba game for the rookie but other teams will notice and will try to shut him down. Whatever happened to Brandon Jennings after his double nickel game? If MCW is to win ROY he will need to be consistent.

Exactly.
Jennings had a 55 point game as a rookie and wasn't even top 3 in ROY award.
MCW?
Who?
He had 1 good game vs the champs, let him do that all season vs every heavy hitter team in the league.
He must do that and equal wins vs the pacers,nets,knicks,bulls,spurs,clippers,OKC,rockets,warriors....

Miami spotted us 20 something points and made it interesting. Truthfully I don't expect us to win more than 20 something games.

I was enamoured with this kid's size and pg skills before this performance.I'm glad he was able to taste a bit of success in what should be a UNBEARABLE season in Philly. The Suns won too...lmao

So did the Cav's...LOL - All kidding aside the Nets are not going to be the world beaters everyone is already proclaiming them to be without a healthy Deron Williams period...

That bum Kankle(s) started to affect him last year and is lingering much longer than the Nets organization is willing to admit...

The Suns have a good backcourt & Miles Plumlee had a very good debut (18 points & 15 rebounds).

Portland has Lilliard and Aldridge. Those are their only consistent players.

*Yes, I realize it was just 1 game, just my opinion.*

I am happy for him but people will not respect MCW until he proves he can shoot consistently. Then they will focus on him. He probably will be in the discussion for ROY because I really only see any of the rookies distancing from the pack, maybe Oladipo. He is our PG of the future wait until we get a true go to option, or Turner might finally turn the corner and suprise me.
