07:33 AM ET 10.31 | North of the border, Toronto may be willing to make a deal. The Blue Jays are in the market for a new second baseman, and one of their early targets appears to be Chicago's Gordon Beckham. MLB.com has learned that the Blue Jays have interest in acquiring the White Sox second baseman, which dates back to last offseason, when the possibility of a trade was first explored. The interest has since been renewed with general manager Alex Anthopoulos intent on upgrading the position. As per club policy, Toronto doesn't comment on potential transactions and has yet to issue any type of statement regarding its plans for the offseason -- besides admitting second base, catcher and starting pitching are areas of need. White Sox general manager Rick Hahn declined comment on the matter as well.

This is not good news for Jays fans given that Beckham sucks.

Clean house in Chi Town.

You seem to have good ideas. Maybe you should call Rick Hahn and give him a few of your one liners.

I wouldn't say that. He's not a great hitter but he plays very good defense.

No one can bend it like Beckham.

Well, Beckham has never becom the player the W. Sox or their fans hoped he could be. He was a top 10 draft pick and looked really good his first (partial) season with the W. Sox. He does play a very good 2nd base and his offensive numbers were up last year until he got hurt. But if Toronto wants him bad, make the deal.

Marcus Semien was on the W. Sox for a while this year, after winning the Southern League (AA) MVP. Give him a shot, offesively like to be as good as Beckham.

Micah Johnson also had a solid year in the minrs, if he has a solid camp maybe they could play him.

Yikes, I need to proofread before I send.

How is Beckham any better than Izturis. He hit's righties better than lefties, but .254 against righties is that flattering. Add in the fact he has horrible range. The Jays would be better off letting Goins play there, as he had excellent defensive numbers. Seriously thou, if they want to contend, their going to need to do better than Beckham, who is basically just below replacement value.
