Disturbing trend for fizzling Cards

07:35 AM ET 10.31 | Michael Wacha didn't have his best night, something he admitted Wednesday, but St. Louis' bats didn't have their best series, either. For the second consecutive season, the Cardinals became unglued with a championship on the line, and it's confounding and frustrating. It's inexcusable, really. There's no justification for this. You can cite October randomness as much as you'd like, but something is wrong when your core hitters go into a shell and freeze up at the most critical moments of the postseason. There's something wrong when you're defenseless against a used-up Barry Zito (2012 NLCS) and a sore-armed Clay Buccholz (2013 World Series). There's something wrong when you all but have to run to the bathroom when the opposing team starts a lefthanded pitcher.

Maybe the Cards fans will become bitter and jaded like so many East Coast baseball fans?

WOW..WHAT A POOR ARTICLE. Did this guy watch the series and see all the strikeouts the Cards pitching staff racked up? Maybe give some credit to the Sox pitching staff that stepped up when they had to and the Sox bats as well.

Naw, they are mostly good, knowledgeable fans, the team is young and will learn from this.

Hope Lou shows up with the avatar I chose for him.

Great FN series. Especially the result.

Boston FN Strong!

This writer certainly has the "jaded" thing down pat. I read the whole article earlier and couldn't believe how much of a dick he was.

Cards probably win the WS within two to three years.
Most definitely before the Yankees.
Hell the Orioles will probably win one before the Yankees.

I read some comments over at the St Louis Post Dispatch and I have to disagree. The myth that you mentioned is just that....a myth. They have their share of knucklehead sports fans just like any other city.

Agreed, but internet posters are, shall we say, without normal societal filters?

I mean, I am a natural born FN AH of the highest order, but on the internet there are freedoms of expression not available elsewhere.

I grew one as well, Ha. I told the wife I'd shave once the series was over.
