05:07 PM ET 10.31 | Today is the deadline to pick up a team option on players that were drafted in the 2011 NBA Draft. The Sacramento Kings have informed guard Jimmer Fredette that they will not pick up his option for the 2014-15 season, which would have been worth $3.1 million. Fredette has been a disappointment since his selection as the 10th overall pick in the 2011 draft. Fredette had a wildly successful career as a BYU Cougar, but his collegiate success just hasn't translated to the NBA. Last season, Fredette averaged just 7.2 points, 1.3 assists and 1.0 rebounds per game. He shot 42.1 percent from the field, 41.7 percent from beyond the arc and 85.9 percent from the charity stripe.

His game just does not translate well to the NBA. Adam Morrison was an even higher pick and we all saw what happened. The Kings are wise to cut their losses and build a team that can compete.
