07:27 AM ET 11.01 | There it is, at long last: A definitive remark. Carmelo Anthony, trying to quell those who have criticized him about touting his free agency, made his boldest statement yet about wanting to remain in orange and blue. Speaking to the TNT crew before Thursday's game, Anthony said, "I want to retire in New York, I mean, let's just be quite frank." Anthony had created something of a firestorm when he said he was definitely going to opt out of his contract because he "wanted to be a free agent." ... "I think a lot of people jumped the gun when I said I wanted to be a free agent," he said. "And yeah, I want people to come play in New York. I want them to want to play in New York. I want New York to be that place where guys want to come play." Anthony said this week he has a "big black book" to recruit free agents.

QUOTE(#1):

thats all fine and dandy-but watching the game last night and the way the offense completely stalled in the last 4-5 minutes cause it was melo iso left, melo iso right, then melo iso at the top for a THREE? when the team is only down 1 ? for the last shot ?not sure if he gets the concept of winning basketball.he has all the talent and tools.but he has zero clue as to how to play team ball

Come on man. It's game 2 of the season with an entirely new, and much more talented team than last year, and although the Knicks lost, it was only by a point. I, like you, wat to see them go undefeated, but that just isn't realistic. The Knicks are going to be good this year. No question. Just let them play and enjoy it. Granted, we're not the Miami Heat, but we're not the Cavs either.

But Melo also believes that his supporting cast will not be enough to get the job done this year. He put his foot in his mouth twice already. He should have shot his pie hole on these matters.

QUOTE(#9):

Much more talented is a myth. Based on what? Adding a guy the Raptors would have cut their left arms off to get rid of? The Cavs future is far brighter than the Knicks.

LTCF - Here you come as predictable as a rooster crowing about how bad the Knicks are and how great the Cav's will be...

You must be sugar overloaded with all the candy you got stuck with since no one wants to come to the creepy guy's house...

QUOTE(#7):

* had a great all around game (last night)

He did but like Doc said it's just the second game and Melo wasn't hitting his shots earlier as was the majority of both squads...(Stunk to high heaven) I agree about the ISO as it's been my pet peeve the last couple of years but it looks like Woodson is still trying to figure out the right combo of players to get out there since they have so many weapons...

I will tell you this if they keep that defensive intensity going and they start hitting a lot of those open shots they had they will run ramshod on a good portion of the league...

QUOTE(#13):

The Knicks aren't bad, they just aren't nearly as good as the Knick fans think. Plus the Cavs are going to pass the Knicks maybe this year but certainly next.

And if not next year then the year after that but no later than the last year...

yeah, yeah, yeah... We've been hearing it for three years already...!!!

Good morning BTW..!!
