07:31 AM ET 11.01 | Cross Ohio State's Gene Smith off the list. Texas will interview three candidates for its men's athletic director's opening, but [Smith] will not be one of them. Smith was considered for the position, but did not make the short list of finalists, a source familiar with the search confirmed to the American-Statesman on Thursday. ... [Texas will interview] frontrunner Oliver Luck, the current West Virginia athletic director, and Arizona State athletic director Steve Patterson for the job, according to a highly placed source at a Big 12 school. North Carolina athletic director Bubba Cunningham was also thoroughly vetted by Korn/Ferry. ... One source with knowledge of the search told the American-Statesman on Wednesday that the search could culminate with a firm recommendation to the Board of Regents at its meeting on Nov. 13 in Austin.

I read the title and thought "Can they narrow down to less than 1?".

Damn. I was so hoping the Teflon AD would take his act to Bevo Land.

If those are the final 3 candidates, and call me skeptical, then it's Lucks job already.

Long talked with the committee this week, but yeah, Luck was in ATX yesterday

How much are we paying a professinal search firm to rubber stamp our pre-conceived ntion that Luck would be the best AD candidate? This is so much like corporate America now days.

Make this happen FJJ and I'll proudly wear burnt orange once a week in your honor. Hell, I'll help him pack & chip in for the moving van.

True. Same thing is happening all over corporate America and it stinks. Pay 6+ figures to a professional services firm to give management the recommendation they desire, which most often is tied to bonuses and incentive compensation. And how do they pay for this? Cut benefits to the workers.

BSB/GR, from what I've heard, UF has the most conference championships the last several years if you take into account all sports...and it is not even close. Is this accurate?

Most of us non SECers only follow the biggies.
