Dodgers eyeing trade for David Price?

07:33 AM ET 11.02 | Because pitchers like Ricky Nolasco and Matt Garza were traded in mid-season, they are not subject to draft compensation. "So they're going to do better than an Ervin Santana, if the Royals make the qualifying offer." But, suggests several general managers, the Dodgers can avoid the loss of their number one pick and the slot money if they trade for David Price and get Masahiro Tanaka from Japan. "They have the minor league talent to get Price," says one GM. "If they would trade Corey Seager and Julio Urias (the 17-year old lefthanded pitcher) and a couple out of Zach Lee, Joc Pederson or Chris Withrow, it would get it done. Then if they post $80M for Tanaka, they could have a rotation with four number ones and a number two with Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, Price, Tanaka and Hyun-Jin Ryu. But if they were to trade for Price, they'd need the draft pick to fill holes in their development system."

It's going to be a good year free free agents if both the Dodgers and the Yankees are buyers.

Price is not a free agent, won't be eligible until 2016.

You might wanna check the front page headline for this. You call them the Dogers. :-)

I think the writer is putting Price on to high of a pedestal. Being in the big leagues since 08 and hasn't won 75 games, I think the asking price for him is to much, but the West Coast Yankees likes the headlines and have the money and farm system to trade or buy.

I hope the Dudgers spending brings them the same success excess gave the Yankees. (Three billion in payroll over fifteen years - one title) The rest of the NL West might as well save their money. Not good for baseball.

The Dodgers will probably go after Price. After all the Dodgers have that money tree out side of Dodger Stadium. By signing all these free agents. they will eventually get to where the Yankees are now The Dodgers will eventually deplete their farm system, and as these current players reach retirement or in the twilight of their careers there won't be talent in system to take over.

The Yankees have three World Series titles in the last 15 MLB seasons, so clearly you can't count.

And they haven't spent 3 billion in team salary over the last 15 years.

If you want to be taken seriously - maybe you should look up some facts intead of spouting nonsense and drivel...

(they would have to AVERAGE 200 Million in team salary per season, and they were nowhere NEAR that total 15 years ago (or 14 years ago, or 13 years ago...)
