05:13 PM ET 11.02 | The Atlanta Braves would prefer that Brian McCann stay with the organization this winter, but they know he's set to cash in given the iffy free agent market. Not wanting to lose him without compensation, the Braves are planning to give McCann a qualifying offer which will net them a compensatory draft pick if McCann signs elsewhere this offseason.

I loved his move at the end of the season when he stood on the plate and kept Carlos Gomez from touching it.

Another smart move by an organization who is on top of the their game, knowing the Jays are in the hunt and probably the Yankees and maybe even the west coast want to be Yankees could be in the hunt for McCann's services.

funny, but true-that being said- if cash wants him though....it likely means he's washed upand his master plan is to make him another DHsmh

Not sure Cashman wants to go the McCann route. It means giving up on Sanchez. He is too young for that and has hit well at every minor league stop. A $100 million contract means the $20 million a year neighborhood the guy is looking at. would be very surprised to see the Yankees go all in for the guy.

The Yankees would go after Johan but he's too young he's only 34:-) !!!

and based on the look in Gomez's eyes, i'd say he was on something...that whole incident was just bizarre.

maybe McCann signs with Boston? Sox didn't extend an offer to Salty, Ross played with Mac in ATL...heh, could be.
