10:10 AM ET 11.03 | Flyers goaltender Ray Emery will not receive any supplemental discipline for his conduct in Friday night's 7-0 loss to Washington. The news was first reported by ESPN's Pierre LeBrun. Emery charged out of his crease and dropped the gloves with unwilling combatant in Capitals goalie Braden Holtby. Emery wailed away with punches while the NHL's on-ice officials did not intervene. Emery was tossed from the game. He received two minutes for instigation, two minutes for leaving the crease, five minutes for fighting, a 10-minute misconduct and a game misconduct.

So he goes out and shutouts the Devils the next night. Go figure.

it was incredibly classless and bush league, but I don't think that the incident itself is suspendable. With that being said, I see no reason to complain if the Caps shouldn't bring up some bozo from the AHL just to take a big run at whomever Philly decides to put in nets next time they meet.

The Emery incident is exactly what leads to Moore-Bertuzzi incidents.

Yup. He said defend yourself. That is not a fighter.....that's a bully, and a wimpy one to do it national T.V, but that's what you get for telling a mental case that he is Hextall.

I never liked this guy. Thought he turned the corner, but.....

Same excuse the League gave for Cooke on Savard (and just as wrong), then went and changed the rules.

Meant to quote Canuck. But yeah, why not?

Kind of silly. I don't think fighting should be outlawed in hockey at all. But this is the kind of meaningless nonsense that causes it to be brought up all the time. Braden should have bled all over him.

Nice that Holtby's team mates did not come to his defense, says a lot about them.

I am not one to call for the elimination of fighting in the NHL, although it seems that in the playoffs fights very rarely occur, and most people don't really miss it.

But the NHL needs to stop these brawls where 3 or 4 fights occur at once. Stupid and ugly.

Regarding Emery, I guess if I had to leave great team/city and go play for Philly, I might be pissed too. (I guess he didn't have leave, but that money looked pretty tasty.)

He was going because Keith and the under appreciated Seabrook made him look real good. 17-1

Now? He's got a 1-0 win against a team that's been shutout like 3 or more times in less than 16 games so far. He's been a disgrace before and regardless of his win with Chicago, it was Crawford facing the heat and really winning it for them in net.

Emery has been a thug for a long time, and now with a Cup and two finals, a new contract......he's done well for a Thug.

November 5, 2013  12:39 AM ET

I see lots of fights, but to go out, and not tighten up then start a fight....but I like fighting, and that was a flat out attack on a guy for no reason...other than he shut the door completely on his team.

So......GOOD ON YOU HOLTBY! That was a real shutout, and the one Emery got was just a lucky draw. We shall see how the season progresses, but I wish it was a different goalie, and Mason is decent.

Emery's hero is Mike Tyson, the boxer who bit off an opponent's ear. The NHL is a total joke, not suspending that filthy bum.
