Cavs being careful, patient with Andrew Bynum's knees

10:41 AM ET 11.03 | The Cavs plan to be very careful with Andrew Bynum's grumpy knees. Even slight swelling on the day of a game may be reason to rest him early in the season. Bynum has made a remarkable comeback simply to be able to reach the floor for the opener. He missed all of last season with knee problems, and he had surgery on both knees in March. The Cavs were surprised when Bynum said he weighed 308 at his introductory press conference in July. That's because most players who need to lose weight hate to give their weight. Furthermore, Bynum said he wanted to lose about 25 pounds. Well, he did that and more -- the 7-footer is in the low 280s.

Baby steps......They will need him more during the 2nd half of the Season if they plan to make a playoff push.Goodness knows they need another bonafide scoring threat.Teams are doubling Kyrie and daring Thompson/Waiters to beat them.

Man if you are seriously considering Bynum as your "bonafide scoring threat" then you need serious help. On what record or history or evidence can anyone consider him that? Other than just "hoping".
Cavs need to build a team Bynum-less and be prepared to win. Now if he actually clicks and helps them, THAT IS A BONUS. Your strategy cannot include Bynum being a "bonafide scoring threat".

Other than just "hoping"........

Andrew Bynum has two seasons where he averaged more than 30 minutes a game.

In one of those seasons he scored 15 points per game in 30 minutes.

In the other season he scored 18.7 points per game in 35 minutes.

Over the course of his career, he scores 16 points for every 36 minutes played. All the while, shooting 57% from the field.....for his entire career!

I'd say that's a pretty good indication.....a pretty good history or body of evidence.....to show that he can score in the post. Wouldn't you?
