07:18 AM ET 11.04 | In, of all weekends, the Broncos were plunged into uncertainty during their bye weekend. Jack Del Rio, currently the Broncos' defensive coordinator, is expected to take over for [John Fox], based on his experience running a team. Del Rio has previous head coaching experience while Fox's other two coordinators, Adam Gase and Jeff Rodgers, do not. Before the Broncos announce their new interim coach, however, they must negotiate a new contract with him. ... The team announced late Saturday night that Fox would undergo aortic valve replacement surgery. In a text to The Denver Post Sunday afternoon, Fox wrote: "Will be back in no time!" The expectation is Fox will miss the final two months of the regular season but there is hope he can return to the sidelines for the playoffs, providing the Broncos get that far.

Don't worry about worrying the fans or the team, John. Take care of this first and then get back to the other stuff.

The Broncos will work through this just fine. Del Rio is the defensive coordinator and Peyton Manning is the offensive coordinator.

Peyton's been calling the offensive shots since he got there.

John Fox should take as much time as he needs to get better.

Wow... Didn't know this.

Word out of Denver is he'll probably only be out 3-4 weeks if there are no unexpected issues with the surgery. This season is the apex of his coaching career, he wants nothing more than being there on the sidelines.

No doubt that's true, but he needs to take care of his health first and foremost. No one can put a price on that.

He needs to temper his enthusiasm about "getting back in no time" and take care of himself.

Yeah, I was just going over Danny Amendola's contract... Wow !

November 4, 2013  08:30 AM ET

They're going to have to put him on beta-blockers or something every Sunday. Whether he's on the sidelines ore sitting on his couch at home, the action is going to get to him.

He's not the same old Danny Amendola. He actually left the game under his own power. After the 4th quarter, too.

He seemed to be wisely avoiding contact, too. Get the first down and get out of bounds. Stay healthy, dude.

Gosh really. How stupid do they think we are? Of course he is doing this now, he was told now is the time so as to be back by the playoffs. Otherwise he would have waiting till the season was over.

I think this is one of those you want to do right away. Otherwise, maybe he doesn't make it until the season is over.

Fox should take the rest of the Year off and heal his body!

November 4, 2013  11:22 PM ET

Best of luck on a speedy and full recovery.
