Martin will be paid this week

07:15 AM ET 11.06 | Remaining very much in the headlines, Dolphins tackle Jonathan Martin also remains very much on the books in Miami. [Martin is] still getting paid. Because he's still on the active roster. He'll get paid for Week 10 because it's Tuesday and he has yet to be shifted to the non-football illness list, per a source with knowledge of the situation. Moving Martin to the NFI list would give the Dolphins an extra roster spot, along with the opportunity to not pay Martin. The decision to keep Martin on the active roster through Tuesday suggests that, if/when he's moved to the NFI list, he'll still be paid. And that would be a fair outcome, given that Martin ultimately left the team due to harassment from a teammate.

Maybe he should take up Taebo with his check/time off.

November 6, 2013  07:43 AM ET

Or go Ferrari shopping with his buddy

The lawyers and the rest of the AFC East will be the winners here.

Or maybe take "Toughen Up With Tebow" with his time off.

They're going to be very careful with how they treat Mr. Martin. The lawyers are circling as we speak.

Bingo. if the story that they told Incognito to 'toughen him up' are true, the Dolphins will be paying Martin a lot more money than just this week's paycheck.

They may have to pay both, and play neither, and have a QB that gets mauled.

The sky over Miami is growing dark with vultures. Not going to be able to get a tan in South Beach this winter.

November 6, 2013  09:11 AM ET

Why not? The 49ers have been paying Smith all year to " get himself straitened out" before his court appearances.

Yeah, if Incognito has anything that proves he was told to perform a Code Red, he's going to get a big payout as well.

Where's Tom Cruise when you need him? Or, at least, Demi Moore.

Bullying in the school yard is one thing, but in the NFL ? These guys are elite athletes in the toughest league in the world. A practical joke in the cafeteria sends the guy home. What about a
freaking chopblock or whipkick on the line of scrimmage. How about a few eye gouges. Incognito is known to be the dirtiest lineman in the league. Do his opponents on the line go home on strike too ?

November 6, 2013  09:49 AM ET

Martin is going to Cash in on this, nothing wrong with that! !!!

You bet... Both his parents are Harvard Law grads.

We used to pull the "Everybody get up and leave" trick all the time at school. If you were studying or in a late class, you could be the victim of this outrageous, devastating act of cowardly bullying. I was part of it, and I had it done to me, too.

I'm gonna sue for that big paycheck right now. And for the 49 years of mental anguish it has caused me. I haven't thought about it again until now, but now that this Incognito incident has revived that long-repressed tortuous memory, I'm sure it explains all the psychological damage I must have suffered over the years.

I wonder what would happen if I just up and left my job?? I'm pretty sure I still wouldnt be getting paid. Serioulsy, there is a guy in another department, he always cracks on me and it sucks. So instead of asking a friend, or parent, or co-worker what I should do or how to handle it, I think I'll just walk away.

Im not saying what Incognito did was right, they guy is slime, but Martin sure as hell didnt handle this well either.

Or ... wait by Incognito's driveway in a rust bucket and a sledge hammer ... just to welcome him home.

November 6, 2013  08:48 PM ET

Martin is going to be paid for a lot of weeks, and will never play again in the NFL!

Let it out, don't repress your feelings any longer.
