Flynn returning to Green Bay

07:17 AM ET 11.06 | What a long, strange trip this would be, indeed. Immediately after the Green Bay Packers announced that Aaron Rodgers would be out the rest of Monday night's game against the Chicago Bears with a shoulder injury, the Matt Flynn jokes/speculation began. Coach Mike McCarthy was asked specifically about the possibility of bringing back Flynn, who coincidently was waived earlier in the day by the Buffalo Bills, if Rodgers is out long term. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday Rodgers is expected to miss some games with a fractured collarbone. "Player acquisition, I've got nothing for you," McCarthy said. ... Rapoport pointed out on NFL Network's "NFL Total Access" Monday night that the Packers stuck with Wallace when they had a chance to sign Flynn after he was cut by the Oakland Raiders.

Rarely does a guy who's done so little, get so many chances in the NFL.

the life of a QB in the NFL even if they are a clipboard holder.

Walter "Flynn" White, Jr. has a better chance at being successful at QB in Green Bay than Matt "Flynn" Flynn.

I think Favre has a better chance of filling in for AR than Flynn.

November 6, 2013  07:38 AM ET

Flynn knows the system and if he could work out anywhere, it would have to be with the Pack.

Guy has basically made a career out of one good game against a weak defense.

Sign Flynn. He would be a better option than Seneca Wallace, for sure.

-signed, Seneca Wallace

I was a big fan of GH at TT. Why he hasn't earned a chance is a mystery to me. He must not have the footwork necessary to get it done in practice enough to convince the coaches he can make it in a game.

He was given plenty of chances the last couple years in Packers' preseason games and did absolutely nothing with them.

As I recall, he demonstrated pretty conclusively that he did NOT have what it takes to be an NFL quarterback.

I'd sure like to know where NFL got this info from. I read all of the local news sites here almost hourly and all of the Packer sites the same amount and every single one of them says NOTHING about Flynn coming here even for a try-out. We're going with Wallace until AR comes back. Plus if you read the story above, nothing in it even suggests Flynn is coming. Interns, you F-ed this one up. Why would you give the story that title if nothing in the story supports it????

Yep.

Those who understand how Ted Thompson operates expect Wallace to handle the starting role and Scott Tolzien to be activated from the practice squad as his backup. If Thompson signs a QB off the street, it will be a young relatively unknown person to fill the practice squad hole (unless Wallace gets hurt too).

Flynn brings new meaning to the definition of a 'journeyman player.'

That's why they're interns and you and I are professional paid slackers.
