07:31 AM ET 11.06 | While Sonny Dykes declined to talk about the incident, the central figure in the story -- Cal football player Fabiano Hale -- wasn't so reticent. [Hale] was at home Monday and recovering from a concussion sustained in a post-practice altercation with a teammate Friday that sent the freshman walk-on to the hospital. ... Hale, who doesn't remember being taken to the hospital, also received stitches on his ear. Cal athletics said it is cooperating with a UC Berkeley police investigation into the incident. Because of the investigation, Hale, 18, declined to comment on details of the fight, including who it was with and whether he planned to file a lawsuit. The identity of the second player involved has not been made public. ... Hale spoke with Cal coaches Tuesday afternoon and said he plans to rejoin the team Monday.

Young squires shouldn't be trying to emulate the latest bad behavior of the pros.

This doesn't indicate where the altercation took place. Locker room? Parking lot? Dorm? Bar? Frat house?

And this is news because ???

Just noticed that Sonny is looking more like Spike as he ages.

That's just the shot-in-the-arm a bottom-dwelling, struggling program needed. (BTW, the first sentence is not part of the article and actually doesn't agree with the rest of it. Apparently it's made up. Nice going, T&R.)

Hale overslept and missed a practice. Coach wants to teach the team about being a "team" makes those in attendance do extra workouts as a punishment... the coach then goes on to tell the disgruntled players if they have a problem with the punishment.. they should take it out on Hale.."but keep it in the locker room." Now the coaching staff acts like they are totally surprised the kid got attacked.
The administration and coaches had better come up with some pretty good evidence to support the story they are putting out, because it is a complete 180 of what the parents of this player are saying.

Ahhh....the Gunnery Sergeant Hartman approach. Not very smart. Definitely will backfire.
