07:26 AM ET 11.07 | At Kentucky, football certainly isn't king. There are some universities where football simply doesn't register on the national level, where basketball is king and that perception is unlikely to change after decades in the making. Despite a history that includes eight seasons coached by Bear Bryant, Kentucky is one such program. ... [First-year coach] Mark Stoops finds himself in rebuilding mode after he inherited a team that lost 10 games in 2012 and has since seen its losing streak in the Southeastern Conference extended to 12 games entering Saturday's meeting with Mizzou. "The fact that we're losing games and have been a part of a losing culture does rub off on you," Stoops said. "That where we've got to do a better job, and I've got to do a better job to get them to understand and believe that we can do better."

Maybe if they spent as much money on football as they do the basketball program they could get better......

Yeah Colorado has the same problem in the PAC, except the Buffs aren't as good in basketball as Kentucky.

Precisely. There's a reason he left for greener pastures, and it was more than just the gold-watch-vs.-Cadillac folklore. UK is a basketball school, pure and simple, and football will always be a second banana.

Yep. The volume differential is holding them back.

You guys just got to give him some time, this is just his first year, and look what he had there to work with, and also it is hard to recruit good fb players there to start with, so he has such an uphill battle, it will take some time if he can ever get er done.

You know, like a female even thinking of being either the Wife of LUS or FJJ, just such an impossible task and thought and one that would require the utmost perfection.
