07:27 AM ET 11.07 | Though Southern Cal's star receiver is getting healthy, one of its defensive stars is headed in the other direction. [Linebacker] Morgan Breslin, who began the season as a candidate for several postseason awards, will have hip surgery that will sideline him the rest of the regular season, interim Coach Ed Orgeron announced Wednesday. "There is a chance he may be back if there is a later game down the road," Orgeron said. Orgeron made the announcement on a day when defensive end Leonard Williams was absent for the second consecutive practice. ... [Breslin's eight tackles for losses] rank third on the team. Linebacker Devon Kennard has seven sacks, Williams five. Orgeron reiterated a statement he made earlier this week, describing Breslin as one of the "favorite" players he has coached in 27 seasons.

Need ICE and OT in on this one. How many scholarship players is USC now down to?

GTH, good morning my friend. I'm not sure how many scholarshio players USC has healthy at this time of the season, ICE would know. USC still has a pretty good chance at finishing 9-4 or 8-5.

Big game tonight!!! Time for the Ducks to put up or shut up. Oregon can't/shouldn't keep making excuses of the past years. If Oregon will out, then they most likely will be in the BCS CG.

I think I remember hearing somewhere in the 45-46 range are healthy enough to suit up or travel

Yep. And beating Stanford would go a long way to helping them remain over FS in the BCS standings for good.

With Breslin officially out, we dress 45 kids on scholly and 16 walk-ons. 5 of the walk-ons get double-digit game snaps. Un phu keen real

Losing 15 scholarships as NCAA penalty will really show up in the latter part of the season.
All ADs are paying attention.

USC should have no trouble winning their last two away games, Bears and Buffs.

But I really want you to put the hurt on Stanford.

You dont have to win, just bang em up real bad.

Oh, and on the topic of the thread. Love Morgan Breslin. Motor never turns down, let alone off. I hope someone in the nfl gives him a shot. One hell of a football player.

Good point, but assume Stanford wins, where does that put them in the BCS standings, assuming Bama loses to LSU?

FSU is #1 and OSU #2. Stanford is behind OSU and maybe Baylor.

I don't think Fresno St. is going to jump over all those other teams. But they probably are the best team in the nation, and you're right, it would be a crime to leave them out of the BCS championship game.
