Rangers escaping trade shakeup?

07:30 AM ET 11.07 | Thanks to an offense that prior to Wednesday night had been mostly absent, trade speculation was underway. But coach Alain Vigneault said he thinks he has enough firepower to get the job done. "I think we need to get the pieces that we have here to play better," Vigneault said before Wednesday night's Garden match against the East-leading Penguins. Though asked directly about the trade rumors and the need for more offense, Vigneault went off into a discussion about getting more scoring from his defensemen ... On Monday at the Garden, the Oilers dispatched a handful of people to watch the 2-1 loss to the Ducks, including general manager Craig MacTavish and director of hockey operations Kevin Lowe. So began the talk of them dangling 2012 No. 1-overall pick Nail Yakupov, as well as [Ales Hemsky].

They looked really good last night. Transition game was clicking.

Something wasn't clicking inside MAF's brain, doe.

Playoff form?

Kind of funny how things all of a sudden just click, especially offensively.

my two cents..... Callahan's return = Positive mental attitude

Oh, everything comes back to "Fleury's fault."

Defense left him out to dry on most of those goals. Not taking anything away from the Rangers, the Pens certainly didn't play their game, and it doesn't lay on Fleury's shoulders...not this time.

He's a good captain. Good captains can definitely have that effect.

How would you know? Have you been coveting thy neighbour's captains?

There were still a couple softies that Fluery let in. Everyone has a bad day at the office every once in a while. As long as it doesn't become and habit and doesn't happen in the playoffs, the Pens will be OK.

MAF gave up a couple he maybe could have had, but this is more on (heh heh...moron) the defence than him. And I think I heard Malkin's name twice all game.
And the NYR did play well, and I agree that Callahan's presence is huge, especially to Stepan and Hagelin. And since he has been bashed pretty well in here...including by me...Boyle played a great game last night.
Requiste Sidney note: he is a great player, but still a punk. What was with going after Krieder last night? Hard to tell who was the kid and who was the All-Star vet.

Disagree. Three of those goals were not Fleury's fault. Defense were nowhere to be found. Can't wait til the day we get rid of Niskanen.

I think it is easy to blame Fleury here and everywhere. I get it. But the D completely collapsed on him. Not to mention, Fleury can't score the goals. Anytime, Geno (yes, Chip...here I go ago) would like to play the up to the $$$ they are paying him, all for it!!!

Where we will always disagree. What I had heard is that Krieder took a late hit on Crosby, or near the head (again, what I heard), not what I saw. They just showed them jarring at each other, not what happened before. If the "kid," "punk," or whatever you want to call him wants to go after him for it...I have absolutely no problem with it. Sometimes Crosby has to stick up for himself.

I saw nothing eother....and asfar as "hearing it" I will have to say that the broadcast team....a little less that unbiased.
And if Sid wants to be that guy cool...if he shows that he can stand up for himself...excellent. But going after Lundqvist or krieder is hardly impressive. Like whoever it was yesterday that went after Zuccarello...aside from being Muppet sized, he is also about as much a fighter as Holtby.
